Required Areas Of Study...
In accordance with state law, all private schools must provide
instruction in certain areas of study, and this instruction must be
provided in the English Language.
Cold River Academy wants all of it's students to have a high quality,
comprehensive, and well-rounded education. The content, methods,
and curriculum used in the instruction of these required subject areas,
however, is at the discretion of the parent.
We have listed the required subject areas below, as well as a brief
description of the areas that may not be self-explanatory. If you need
help determining a suitable study method for any of the subject areas,
feel free to contact us.
For Grades 1 through 6:
English / Language Arts (reading, writing, spelling, grammar,
speaking, etc.)
Social Studies (history, geography)
Science / Health
Mathematics
Physical Education and
Fine Arts (painting, drawing, singing, dancing, miming, acting, crafts,
music, etc.)
For Grades 7 though 12:
All of the Above, plus
Foreign Language (including American Sign Language)
Driver Education
Applied Arts (quilting, sewing, woodworking, crafts, etc.) and
Vocational Education (carpentry, landscaping, computer,, life skills,
child development, work experience, etc.)
